Caring For Your Planter

Planters are finished with an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint designed to perform in extreme conditions. While suitable for outdoor use, avoid prolonged storage in wet or steamy environments, as this may affect the finish. Normal use, including exposure to water with proper drainage after installation, will not cause harm.

Cleaning

Jay Scotts fibreglass planters require minimal maintenance. Both gloss and matte finishes can be cleaned using mild household cleaners, such as dishwashing liquid and water. Avoid bleach-based products, power washing, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage or scratch the surface.

Polishing

For gloss finishes, an annual polish using automotive or marine-grade wax will enhance appearance and provide added protection, particularly in harsh climates. Wax is not recommended for matte finishes unless the product is specifically designed for matte surfaces.

Ongoing Maintenance

Minor scuffs and light scratches on gloss finishes can often be gently buffed out. Touch-up paint kits are available for small chips or deeper scratches.
